Bernice Cage Receives 2016 Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award

Bernice Cage, MORPC's Senior Public Information and Diversity Officer, won the 2016 Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award at the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Columbus Chapter Annual Dinner.
The award honors an individual, group, or organization that has made significant contributions in promoting diversity and cultural awareness within their organization, the transportation industry, or in a project or activity that supports the goals and mission of WTS. WTS is an international organization dedicated to building the future of transportation through the global advancement of women.
“I am really proud of Bernice for achieving this well-deserved award and thrilled that people from outside the agency recognized her excellent work at MORPC,” said William Murdock, MORPC’s Executive Director. “Her expertise at promoting diversity and inclusion, have been instrumental to our success as an agency.”
Ms. Cage has served in a variety of capacities in her 27 years at MORPC. In her role as Senior Public Information and Diversity Officer, she organizes and implements all of the diversity training programs within the agency. She is also responsible for developing effective media relations, while promoting all of MORPC’s services. In addition, Bernice is in charge of developing and implementing public involvement programs that educate the public on several transportation plans and programs.
Bernice is a graduate from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, and has been a resident of Franklin County for over 30 years. She is a member of the following organizations:
- Central Ohio Diversity Consortium
- International Association for Public Participation
- Central Ohio Public Information Network
- Columbus Metropolitan Club
- Elite Bicycle and Adventure Club.
Dean C. Ringle, Franklin County Engineer, and Elaine Roberts, President and CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, were also both honored for their work and achievements at the annual dinner.
MORPC is proud to be a public agency partner of WTS and several staff and members are active participants in the organization.
