MORPC RECEIVES AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING FINANCIAL REPORTING
JANUARY 8, 2015
MORPC recently received the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for excellence in financial reporting by Auditor of State Dave Yost and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
The Auditor of State’s Office is responsible for auditing more than 5,600 state and local government agencies. The Auditor of State Award with Distinction is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit. Entities that receive the award must meet rigorous criteria for a “clean” audit report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a signficant accomplishment by a government and its management. The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosures” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
