Central Ohioans can conserve energy and cut their utility bills through the Residential Energy Efficiency Program. MORPC in partnership with the City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is offering free installation of high efficiency showerheads to help customers conserve energy and water, and save money. The partnership bolsters savings through leveraging MORPC’s energy efficiency program expertise and DPU’s water conservation knowledge.
Since 1988, MORPC’s Residential Energy Efficiency program has served over 15,000 families to improve the comfort of homes and create energy savings for income-eligible families in Franklin County. By replacing just one showerhead through the High Efficiency Showerhead Program the EPA estimates that the average family can save up to 2,900 gallons of water or the equivalent of powering a home for 13 days and $70 in savings on energy and water bills every year. MORPC encourages additional water saving measures with the “I Save Water Kit” available to all who take advantage of the High Efficiency Showerhead Program.
To be eligible for this program you must be both a Columbus City water customer and meet the requirements of MORPC’s Residential Energy Efficiency programs. Call (614) 233-4174 for details.
