Summit Panel Features Prominent Leaders and Innovators
September 22, 2015
MORPC’s Summit on Sustainability, brings together hundreds of community leaders to learn, share and discuss sustainable ideas and solutions. The Summit takes place on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hilton Downtown Columbus.
This year’s theme, Regions Matter, will focus on sharing best practices that can be applied by local communities, regions and businesses to enhance the built environment in which we live. The region is expected to grow by 25 percent by the year 2050, yet recent studies have illustrated an inefficiency in the regional use of energy in the transportation, industrial, commercial and residential sectors. Meanwhile, many companies are investing in cleaner, smarter uses of energy to improve operational excellence and reduce environmental impacts.
The keynote luncheon features a panel that will focus on energy, an integral factor in Central Ohio’s growth. The conversation will be moderated by MORPC Energy and Air Quality Director Christina O’Keeffe and feature a panel of experts including:
- Reid Spolek, Manager of the Renewable Energy for Amazon’s Web Services
- Kate Bartter, Director of Office of Energy and Environment for The Ohio State University
- Dirk Nordberg, Honda of America Green Factory Manager
Winners of the Green Region Awards will also be announced during the lunch program, honoring individuals and entities working to create a more vibrant and environmentally sustainable region.
The Summit will feature engaging breakout sessions, providing food for thought and real-life solutions on how to create communities that are increasingly self-sustaining and environmentally sound. Regional leaders will share their expertise on topics including policy, energy and environment, land-use, and transportation.
There is still time to join the conversation! Register for the 2015 Summit on Sustainability at www.morpc.org/summit.
