VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR MORPC'S 2015 SPRING BIKE AND PEDESTRIAN COUNTS
APRIL 20, 2015
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) is seeking volunteers to assist with bicycle and pedestrian counts throughout selected locations in central Ohio on Wednesday, May 13 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. MORPC encourages any community which is interested in conducting their own counts to do so during the same time frame.
One of the greatest challenges facing the bicycle and pedestrian field is the lack of documentation on how many people are cycling and walking. Without accurate and consistent figures, it is difficult to measure the positive benefits of bicycle and pedestrian investments, especially when compared to other types of transportation such as the automobile and transit. Volunteers are needed in over 20 locations.
A map of the locations is located online at http://morpc.org/trans/BikePedCount_location_map.pdf. Volunteers are asked to register either online at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4fa5af23a6f58-spring2 or by contacting Jordan Whisler at firstname.lastname@example.org or 614-233-4148. Once registered, volunteers will receive a map of their specific location as well as forms and instructions to be used for the count.
