U.S. EPA Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund and Cleanup (ARC) Grants

Ohio EPA Clean Diesel School Bus Fund Retrofit Grants Program
This grant program helps school districts retrofit their diesel school buses with pollution control equipment and use cleaner fuels to reduce emissions.  Priority will be given to applications from school districts in communities that do not meet the federal air quality standards for outdoor concentrations of fine air particles, and districts that employ additional measures such as anti-idling programs, to reduce emissions from their school bus fleets.  The next grant application deadlines will be September 2, 2008, and March 2, 2009. Ohio Diesel Emissions Reduction Grant Program
The program is available for all public diesel engine fleets and private diesel engine fleets (with public sponsor) that have at least 20% matching funds and who are committed to operating their updated equipment in Ohio non-attainment-and-maintenance counties at least 65% of the time. 

Ten awards have been announced from applications submitted for the State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2008 program (due February 11, 2008).  Additional funding opportunities in SFY 2009 will most likely be announced after August 1, 2008.  For more information visit the Ohio Department of Development's website.

B20 Biodiesel School Bus Grant ProgramThe State of Ohio Department of Development, Ohio Energy Office (OEO) is soliciting applications from interested and qualified parties seeking funding to help cover the incremental costs of using B20, a blend of 20% biodiesel with 80% petroleum diesel. This program provides an opportunity for school districts and county Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MRDD) programs and similar local agencies that provide K-12 education to begin using and benefiting from B20 biodiesel in school buses. U.S. EPA Clean Diesel Emerging Technology Grant Funding Now Available
U.S.EPA plans to award approximately $3.4 million in grants to establish projects using emerging technologies to reduce emissions from the nation's existing fleet of diesel engines. State, local, regional and tribal governments may apply for the grants, as well as non-profits and institutions with transportation, educational service, and air quality responsibilities. Emerging technology manufacturers must partner with an eligible applicant to receive this funding. The grants are targeting school or transit buses, medium and heavy-duty trucks, marine engines, locomotives and non-road engines. Grant proposals must be submitted by Sept. 21, 2008. EPA Grant for Nutrient Reduction in the Ohio Basin
EPA is soliciting proposals that will use water quality trading programs to reduce nutrient loads, particularly from the Ohio River, the Upper Mississippi River, or the Lower Mississippi River.
