Public Opinion Poll Developed in Partnership with Measurement Resources and the Columbus Dispatch
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has launched its latest survey in the “Leaders Listen” series, in partnership with Measurement Resources Company and The Columbus Dispatch, to gauge Central Ohio residents’ opinions on experiences and services related to housing in the region.
The Leaders Listen Series is a set of short surveys that periodically invite Central Ohio residents to share their input better to inform MORPC’s future planning and community engagement efforts. The first two surveys in the series, conducted last year, polled residents on their opinions on transportation and sustainability in the Central Ohio region. The current survey will focus on housing and address topics such as the type and quantity of desired housing, development, and connecting communities in the region.
"We are already facing a housing shortage in Central Ohio, and our expected growth will add to that challenge. While our region continues to thrive and evolve, the heartbeat of our communities depends on creating more housing and strengthening neighborhoods so we can grow better as Central Ohio gets bigger. Understanding our region's diverse housing needs will help shape and inform conversations from the kitchen table to program and policy investments with business and community leaders.”
MORPC’s Executive Director William Murdock
Preliminary survey results will be revealed by Executive Editor of The Columbus Dispatch Mike Shearer, along with MORPC leadership during the 2024 State of the Region, Connecting Communities: Building the Future of Housing and Transportation, on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Hilton
Columbus Downtown.
“The availability of affordable housing in Central Ohio remains a key coverage priority for The Columbus Dispatch and Dispatch.com journalists as we cover growth and development in the region. We look forward to receiving new data to help our team and readers better understand this critical issue.”
Executive Editor of The Columbus Dispatch Mike Shearer
Central Ohio residents 18 years or older are eligible to complete the survey. Participants are encouraged to spread the word to help attract diverse perspectives and opinions to ensure that the results represent the community.
"This third survey in the series allows MORPC and our partners to build on our public opinion knowledgebase and combine these new housing insights with what we've recently learned from the public regarding regional transportation experiences and environmental sustainability challenges. Residents' voices are critical to our ongoing policy decisions and planning around housing.”
MORPC’s Director of Data Analytics & Strategy Planning, Dave Dixon
