CORPO Accepting Applications for Second Round of Funding for Transportation Projects

Workshop scheduled for January 10; Applications Due February 9

The Central Ohio Rural Planning Organization (CORPO) is seeking funding applications for transportation projects and programs from eligible local public agencies located within CORPO’s member counties. This will be the second round of applications accepted for a two-year funding cycle for State Fiscal Years 2024–2025. Of the approximately $2,000,000 available during the two-year cycle, $1 million is still available to communities.

The seven counties in the non-metropolitan areas of the region include Fairfield, Knox, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Pickaway, and Union counties. Funds may be used for construction, expansion, reconstruction, preliminary engineering, right of way or preservation of roads and bridges on any public road; capital costs for public transit and bus terminals; bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and other transportation-related activities.

“We are excited the state fiscal year 2024-2025 state transportation budget increased the funding for rural transportation planning organizations like CORPO as these funds are severely needed to maintain and improve the transportation system for our rural members.”

Applications will open on Monday, January 8. Interested applicants can participate in a virtual workshop on the application and selection process to be held on Wednesday, January 10, from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Information on participating in the workshop can be found here.

“These funds will enable the region to move forward on a variety of critical transportation projects – particularly during a time of significant growth in the region – that will improve local communities and enhance the quality of life for area residents."

Applications for funding are due on February 9 at 5 p.m. An online application will be available beginning on Monday, January 8.
