Promotions affirm MORPC's commitment to investing in and growing talent
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has announced the promotion of three key leaders within the organization, further strengthening its commitment to advancing regional collaboration and innovation in transportation, sustainability, and community engagement.

Maria, Ralonda, and Brandi each bring a wealth of expertise and passion for public service, and I am confident that their leadership will help us continue to build a more sustainable, equitable, and connected future for Central Ohio."
Ralonda Hampton has been promoted to senior director of communications and engagement. Hampton, who has been a part of MORPC’s communications and engagement team for more than four years, has 17 years of experience in public service and expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Hampton will lead MORPC’s outreach strategies, overseeing public involvement, branding, and special events. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in marketing from Kentucky State University.
Maria Schaper has been named MORPC’s new transportation study director. With more than 17 years of experience in urban planning, transportation policy, and infrastructure development, Schaper will oversee regional transportation planning and project prioritization while fostering partnerships with local governments, state agencies, and private sector stakeholders. Schaper, a certified planner, earned a bachelor’s degree in urban planning and development from Ball State University. Her leadership is critical in securing funding and guiding long-term transportation initiatives for Central Ohio.
Brandi Whetstone, a 14-year veteran of MORPC, has been promoted to director of sustainability. In this role, she manages MORPC’s sustainability team overseeing programs in air quality, energy and climate, water, and natural resources. Whetstone also leads the development of the Regional Sustainability Agenda and guides the Sustainable2050 program, which includes 38 local governments committed to regional sustainability goals. Additionally, she manages the Sustainability Advisory Committee and ensures MORPC continues to address regional sustainability challenges and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in its initiatives. She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental policy and analysis from Bowling Green State University.
