MORPC Names Steve Armstrong As Director of Finance

Armstrong to Drive Fiscal Leadership, Oversee Broad Range of Finance Initiatives

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has tapped Steve Armstrong to be its new Finance Director. In this role, he will provide leadership and oversite for all aspects of the finance team, manage the preparation of the Indirect Cost Allocation Plan (ICAP) and agency budget, and ensures that MORPC program departments are meeting all financial reporting requirements.

As MORPC’s Finance Director, Amstrong also will oversee a broad range of finance initiatives including directing and ensuring the proper maintenance of accounting records, systems, and procedures; facilitating audits, preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report; performing and coordinating the budgeting function of the agency; monitoring purchase orders, payroll, transactions, resolutions and contracts; directing and assisting with contract compliance and grant management related to financial accounting, budgeting, and auditing matters; coordinating staff and assisting with the Mid-Ohio Finance Administrators (MOFA) and the Ohio Association of Regional Councils (OARC) Finance Directors.

Armstrong is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years of financial leadership experience in various industries ranging from Fortune 100 companies to nonprofit organizations. In his most recent role at Lutheran Social Services, Armstrong served as the Director of Finance and Accounting. Prior to Lutheran Social Services, he was the Controller for the American Automobile Association (AAA).

Additionally, Armstrong has held various financial and accounting leadership roles with JP Morgan Chase in several lines of business including retail banking, ATM innovations, branch improvements, real estate, and international finance. His final position was as Senior Manager of International Finance for the Finance, Treasury, Tech Operate, and Robotics division of JP Morgan corporate technology. He also worked at the Limited Corporation after starting his career at Price Waterhouse.

Armstrong holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Ohio University and serves on the College of Business Alumni Board of Directors.
